The Kenya African National Union (KANU) has announced that its National Chairman, Gideon Moi, will vie for the Baringo Senatorial seat in the forthcoming by-election.
In a statement on Thursday, October 2, 2025, the party said it has already nominated Moi as its candidate after extensive consultations, deliberations, and consensus within the party and with the people of Baringo.
“Gideon Moi has been nominated as the party’s candidate for the forthcoming Baringo Senatorial by-election,” the statement read in part.
According to KANU, the decision reflects the party’s strong commitment to offering experienced, visionary, and people-centered leadership.
It described the decision as a crucial moment for both Baringo County and the nation.
The party emphasised that Moi’s campaign will be anchored on inclusivity, accountability, and service to all.
It further assured supporters that Moi will run a people-driven campaign that seeks to resonate widely with the electorate.
“Therefore, as a party, we are confident that Hon. Gideon Moi’s candidature will resonate widely with the electorate,” the statement said.
KANU also called upon its supporters in Baringo County and across the country to rally behind Moi as he embarks on this political journey.
“We call upon our supporters across Baringo County and the country at large to rally behind our Chairman as we embark on this crucial journey,” the statement added.
With Moi’s candidature, the party expressed confidence in reinforcing these ideals at a time it considers critical for the people of Baringo and Kenya as a whole.
KANU noted that Moi had expressed gratitude to party members, supporters, and the people of Baringo for what it termed as their patience, confidence, and steadfast support.
